I am proud to be a member (as a Lecturer and now as incharge Principal) of M.N.College, Visnagar. The college was founded by Late Shri Maneklal Nanchand Doshi and State Government, Baroda solely to provide higher education for the youth of North Gujarat.
Our College, established in 1946, nurtured by eminent personalities of the society, educationists, members of faculty and administrative staff enabled it to attain its present status of a fully grown up eminent institution. Our college has been accreditated by NAAC Banglore in January 2009 and awarded with GOOD descriptor (‘B’ grade with 2.85 CGPA). It is catering to need of higher education in basic sciences, languages and Social Sciences The College, having permanent affiliation with Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University and managed by State Government, educates the students for B.Sc., B.A., M.A. and M.Sc. degrees.
As a result of combined efforts of College family members, the College has shown excellent outstanding performances in both curricular and co-curricular activities. The results at the University examinations, so far, have always been 01 to 05% higher than overall University results in all the classes, and many times our students have secured highest ranks at University. Availability of good infrastructural facilities in the campus and the efforts and encouragement by staff, some students have excelled and secured first positions at competitions in co-curricular activities, sports, N.C.C. and N.S.S. etc. at University/State/National level. We have also started FINISHING SCHOOL to increase placement, which is finincially supported by Government of Gujarat.
The College has always overwhelmingly welcomed, introduced, prepared and geared up itself for new branches of science, arts and post-graduate education, short term remedial courses, frequent revision of curriculum, improving methods of teaching and evaluation, research, etc. The College strived to fulfill needs of higher education of the students belonging to poor and lower middle-class, major portion of them residing in rural area, by keeping pace with latest developments in arts and science and its teaching, to enable those students to compete in globalize scenario as well as prepare themselves for self-employment.
The higher authorities of the College has always given free hand in administration, provided financial assistance, upgrade infrastructure, encourage faculty development, undertake research, support and valuable guidance.
Since the inception of the College, the College has always maintained maximum permissible strength of students and in last two year the student strength climbs to 3200. I welcome all past students, former principals and former teachers of this college.
